Infrason

A infrason is a sound whose frequency is lower than 20  Hz. It is thus too serious to be perceived by the human ear (its frequency is too weak).

Felt

The human spectrum of hearing goes from approximately 20 to: 20000  Hz. Beyond 20  Khz, we do not understand anything any more, in the same way in lower parts of 20 Hz, at least, with our ear. Indeed, if we do not hear the sounds in lower parts of 20 Hz, we can feel them, in particular by our rib cage.

Let us infrasons are very much used in electronic music (Techno), especially when they are in rate/rhythm with the Cœur: the feeling of the Vibration S in the Rib cage is then exacerbated. It is one of the reasons for which the rate/rhythm of the electronic Musique S turns around 140  BPM (Beats per minute), a rate/rhythm close to that of the heart of an individual in a discotheque.

Let us infrasons give a fascinating atmosphere also quickly. This is why they are very often used in the Film S and the series of actions and are restored by the Subwoofer (and by corollary development assistance of the systems 5.1). The smaller a subwoofer will be, the more it will have of evil to restore infrasons them (and low registers) with clearness and precision, giving to final, a its heavy and less fascinating.

Let us infrasons are less known than the extremists sounds because they are used and more difficult to produce.

Recent studies in addition showed that infrasons them play a part in the communication at the elephant.

High power, let us infrasons them can have effects destroying, as well mechanical as physiological. Tests of use were carried out during the second world war by the German army. With more low power, they constitute a physiological gene important for the animals and the human ones being able to generate during a prolonged exposure a discomfort, a tiredness, to even generate nervous or psychological disorders.
