Informational modeling
The informational modeling is an interdisciplinary step integral information technologies and problems of analysis and architectural modeling on various scales. Informational modeling aims at to improve the way in which given and indices as for the historical evolutions of architectural objects are translated visually.
Informational modeling has as a field of application patrimonial architecture, where the studied object largely was often transformed, and consequently where what is known on him remains partial. Consequently, whereas in practice traditional of modeling architectural a realistic representation of the object is an end in itself, the graph resulting from a step of modeling informational has as a priority the assistance with the visualization of information, the reasoning and the cognition, without ambition of realism.
Abstraction (resulting from the field of the visualization of information ) and figuration (exit of the field of the architectural representation ) are integrated like two modes of representation alternate/combinable, authorizing the visual communication of knowledge incomplete and/or dubious.
Informational modeling proposes the data on the evolutions of architectural objects, and defines rules for the production of graphs 2D and 3D designed like tools of investigation and scientific visualization (work tools and of discovery, in the words of J.Bertin). These rules envisage for example accessibility with the documentary justification (files, research, etc.), an indication of credibility of subjacent information, a visual underlining of the missing information, a bond with a model architectural theoretical, of the devices display dynamic, an indication on the progression in the process of meditation of indices, etc.
Informational modeling has its roots in the fields of the architectural modeling, of the imagery, data management located spatially, scientific visualization, and is located at the intersection of the methods and questions which they underline.
