Synopsis
Pink Elliot, young poetess newyorkaise, lives a building with the strange atmosphere. She buys an old entitled book " Tre Madri" (Three Mothers), written by Emilio Varelli, architect alchemist fallen into the lapse of memory. The book tells the meeting of Varelli with the three mothers of the Hells: MATER Suspiriorum (the Mother of the Sighs), MATER Lacrimarum (the Mother of the Tears) and MATER Tenebrarum (the Mother of Darkness). It builds a house with each one to them: with Friburg, with Rome and with New York. After having read the book, Rose starts to think that she lives in this third house of New York, where resides the third Mother and starts to be anxious and excavate the surroundings. She writes a letter with her Mark brother, studying in music in Rome, to ask him to come to her, but this letter falls initially under the eyes of a friend of Mark, which starts to get information and to worry and calls Mark to give the letter to him which returns to him. She is assassinated before to have been able to speak to him, Mark discovers the letter torn with the feet of its corpse and flies away for New York…
