Inert
see also: Etymology of Inert
Inerte is the state to make little or nothing.
In Chimie the inert term is used to describe something which is not chemically active. The Rare gas S were formerly regarded as inert because it do not react with the most ordinary element S. Nowadays the Scientifique S know that only the inert Gaz S are completely inert with the chemical reactions (like the Combustion, for example, because they have a complete external electron shell).
