Industry of the armament of the Popular republic of China

This article describes the formation of the Industrie of the armament in Popular republic of China.

The formation of the country imposes upon the departure the foundation of its National security vis-a-vis the republic of Taiwan which profits from the American umbrella.

Following the victory of Mao in 1949, continental China becomes the Popular republic of China. Communist regime, new the RPC obtains Soviet Union of Stalin the delivery of Soviet weapons of war. Thereafter, the Chinese decide, in front of the numerical importance their armed forces and the Rupture sino-Soviet to produce copies of these same weapons. Converted partially with capitalism, Beijing decides to create at the end of the years of the years 1970? the firm Norinco which exports the lawful armaments Chinese and of the copies of Western weapons. The same phenomenon occurred with the tanks and the planes.

Still under the influence of the Western military executives at the time of the Sino-Japanese war of which that of Germany, China develops its own die of armament only as from the popular republic; the military appropriations are justified by the opposition with the nationalist China.

After buildhaving a long time built weapons of Soviet origin (under license or not) in great quantity for the popular Armed with release, the China starts to produce evolved/moved weapons, especially in collaboration with Russia but also with the Ukraine, France or Israel. It carries out programs of armament with the Pakistan thanks to their excellent relations.

Its CMI are currently the largest world employer of the sector. The only company Norinco account thus more employees that the whole of the CMI of the United States but its productivity is much weaker than that of its competitors.

the official figures indicate 283,8 billion Yuan either 28,6 of billion US dollars in 2006 or to the neighborhoods 1,4  % of GDP and 7 with 8  % of the budget of the State. With announced that the Importation of foreign material is not included/understood in the official budget.

The Budget of defense official Chinese is in constant increase since the years 1990 passing from 14,7 billion dollars in 2000 to 44,94 billion dollars in 2007.

It exports tactical armaments (Fusil of attack, Artillerie) as well as copies of missiles and planes Soviet old (for example of the Chengdu J-7, derived from the Mig-21) worms of the countries in the process of development which cannot pay of sophisticated weapons, or being under embargo (Sudan, Iran…). But the situation develops quickly, because of the emergence of industries of high technology in this country, in particular thanks to the purchase of patents and Western and Russian licenses.
