History of the principality
In 1930 the young person mahârâja of Indore Yeswant Rao Holkar Bahadur asked the German architect Eckart Muthesius to arrange a modernistic palate of style. Muthesius created many furniture, but he sought the collaboration of the artist-decorators most refined like Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann,
Eileen Gray,
Le Corbusier, Louis Sognot,
Rene Herbst and Alfred Zeffner. Part of this furnishing was dispersed by
Sotheby' S in Monte Carlo on May 25th, 1980.
