Indigenous park of Xingu
The Indigenous Parc of Xingu (in the past National park of Xingu) is located in the North-East of the State of the Mato Grosso, in the South of the Brazilian Amazonia. It makes 2.642.003 hectares.
The administrative demarcation of the Park was approved in 1961, with a zone taken on the municipalities of Canarana, Feliz Natal, Gaúcha C Norte, Nova Ubiratã, Marcelândia, Paranatinga, Querência, São Felix C Araguaia, São Jose C Xingu and União C Sul.
Geography
It exhibe large a Biodiversity in a zone of transition ecological energy from the Savanna S and of dry Forest S in the South towards Amazon forest in North. One finds there vegetations of Cerrado, fields, forests easily flooded and ground forests firm. The climate divides between one period of Pluie S - of November to April - when the River enter in Crue S and that the Poisson is done rare, and a season dries the other months, where the great ceremonies inter-villagers proceed.
In the South of the Park the formative arms of the Rio Xingu are, who composes a basin drained by Rios Von den Stein, Jatobá, Ronuro, Batovi, Kurisevo and Culuene, this last being the main thing formative Affluent of Xingu, while uniting with Batovi-Ronuro.
Population
The indigenous Park of Xingu gathers fourteen etnies, that is to say 4.043 indivídus in 2002: Aweti, Ikpeng, Kaiabi, Kalapalo, Kamaiurá, Kuikuro, Matipu, Mehinako, Nahukuá, Suyá, Trumai, Wauja, Yawalapiti and Yudja.
