Indexicality
In philosophy of the Language, the indexicaux are terms whose significance depends entirely on certain characteristics of the Contexte in which they are marked. “Now”, “here”, “I” are typical examples of indexicaux terms: their direction depends respectively on the moment, the place and the subject of the stating; on the contrary, a proper name or a common noun (for example) normally continues to indicate the same thing if he is pronounced at two different times or by two different people.
The Ethnométhodologie place indexicality in the middle of its theory. While postulating that each words, concepts or process of communication observed is indexical, it makes the distinction between the fact and the interpretation of the fact which concerns the Réflexivité.
