The inch is the first Doigt (with dimensions interior) of the Main in the Homme and the large monkeys. It returns the hand prehensile, by its total opposition compared to the four other fingers.
The first finger of the feet at the Man is in general not called inch, but big toe.
The inch is a unit of length which is worth 2,54 centimetres exactly.
Description
It does not have an average phalange, contrary to the other fingers, it is thus shorter, but also more robust. Its movements are controlled by eight muscles, which in fact most precise also of the fingers.
The Mutilation of the inch is more handicapping.
At the human one, the inches of the foot S, called big toes, are not prehensile any more.
The inch is a finger rather often sucked by the infants and sometimes even by the larger children (3 to 5 or even 7 years). This practice is regarded as a substitute of suction of the Sein, and is considered to reassure the child. She is however suspected of deforming the palate by some Pédiatre S which fights it and recommends the use of anatomical Sucette S.
