The inactive ones are, the people who are neither in employment, nor with unemployment.

Categories of inactive

It is:

  • young people of less than 14 years,
  • the student S,
  • the Retraité S,
  • men and housewives
  • people in incapacity to work.

Impact on the calculation of the retirements

The proportion the inactive ones tends to strongly increase in the developed Pays, because of the increase in the Life expectancy, the generosities allotted for the departures in retirement starting from the Années 1970, and with the increase in the duration of the studies.

It follows a reduction in the Activity ratio, and consequently in the deficits of the Régimes of retirement.
