In the shade of the dead towers ( In the Shadow off No Towers in English) is a Cartoon of the American artist Art Spiegelman, published in France the September 3rd 2004 by Casterman.

The origins of this Comic book go back obviously to the terrorist attacks of the September 11th, 2001. Spiegelman declared that to draw these stories for him a means was of recovering from the Traumatisme which it had sudden. These events made him become aware of its attachment for New York, him which was considered “without roots” (whereas it grew in the Queens and that it lives in Manhattan since the middle of the Seventies).
He and his wife walked in the streets of the city when they heard the crash caused by the first plane which struck one of the turns of the World Trade Center. Ten years after Maus, it is the shock which caused the return of Spiegelman to the data base
This work defends with enthusiasm freedom to think and pays homage to the first American authors of cartoon. It is also a virulent criticism of the Politique of George W. Bush.
Principal the editor S American having refused to publish it, this Cartoon initially was published in the German weekly magazine Die Zeit , and some extracts were published by the British newspaper The Independent Newspaper and in international Courrier.
