In The Woods… was a group of Avant-garde metal of Kristiansand in Norway. The group left 3 albums studio, three individual, an album compilation and an album live. The group was formed by the former members of the group Green Carnation

History

The group begins under the name of Green Carnation and plays of the traditional Death metal. With the departure of the principal type-setter and Tchort guitarist for the group Emperor, the project starts again under the name In the Woods… .

The group turns then worms of the Black metal, in particular in its first demonstration ( The Isle off Men ) which leaves in 1993. The album which follows in 1995 ( Heart off the Ages ) explores the limits of their black metal, with tablecloths of atmospheric keyboards and feminine voices, mixed with the clear or distorted voices of the singer.

The following album, Omnio , are often regarded as their the best, proposing a more atmospheric music, more experimental. The third album, Strange in Stereophony , still brings a change of style, with a darker and depressive music.

In 1999, Tchort returns towards its first group. In the Woods… publishes its fourth and last album studio, Three Times Seven one has Pilgrimage , a compilation of three " single" published previously, proposing resumptions of Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane and King Crimson, as well as new pieces and resumptions of their own creations (like the new version of Child off Universal tongue ).

After the exit of this album, the group carries out a concert of good-bye in their town of Kristiansand, with all the members of the group, present or last. Recorded, the performance is published out of CD under the name Liveatthecaledonienhall in 2003. The group confirmed officially that there would not be other albums.

Some of the members continue to play under the name of Green Carnation, with the musical style rather near. Others started of the personal projects, by melting the label Karmakosmetix Records, in order to produce new experimental groups, like was In the Woods… in its time.
