The book In Magellanie was modified by Michel Verne, the son of Jules Verne. The new version was published under the title of the Shipwrecked men of the “Jonathan” in 1909 (after the death of Jules Verne).

Francis Lacassin, in the foreword of Family-without-name, indicates that Michel Verne modified the end of the novel: In In Magellanie Kaw-djer is influenced very strongly by two catholic priests at the end of the book. On the other hand, in the version of Michel Verne, no priest plays of role; no human being arrives at ankle of Kaw-Djer.
