Synopsis
Kate Miller, around fifty and sexually frustrated, follows a psychotherapy. Feeling youth to escape to him, it will succumb to an unknown met with the museum. This meeting will be fatal for him: while returning to seek the ring which she had forgotten in her lover, she will meet death in the elevator. Liz Blake, prostitute, saw the scene in the mirror of the cabin: a blonde lacerated Kate Miller with a razor.
Comment
If the film fishes by some small blisters (a little pomade hitchcockienne), it deserves to be considering only for its sequence of anthology of the dredger to the Metropolitan Museum off Art: 9 minutes 40 second dumb women where Kate Miller, as a sexually frustrated woman, will pass by all the states.A beautiful specimen of male assied at its sides vis-a-vis portraits which seem to doubt themselves the beneficial exit of the thing (the table with the brown woman with the perplexed glance). Kate is initially disappointed not to be immediately alongside by the beautiful unknown remaining without reaction in front of its glance enjolor. Considering that it startled perhaps the Mister by one invites too direct with its pleasing smile, Kate takes off a glove to spread out its alliance proving, according to it, that it is not the easy woman that one believes. The Mister leaves their bench then.
From there, passing from room in room in the search of “its prey”, Kate passes in the same way by all the contradictory states of the dissatisfied feverish woman to the exacerbated libido: shameless, offended, éperdue, failing, offered… After its pair of gloves was recovered by two different hands, that of the defended pleasure and that of the punishment, the sequence is completed by the very direct contact of Kate with “its conquest” which tightens the glove of the lust to him towards which it runs without more any reserve and seeing, by crossing it, its next severe death…

Around film
- the original title, Dressed to Kill , is an English expression meaning “to be drawn with four pins, to be on its thirty and one” but which means literally “equipped to kill”, definition which takes all its direction in film…
- typical Représentant of this series of films which were worth in Brian to undergo a lazy filiation with large the Alfred Hitchcock, Pulsions is undoubtedly not the copy of a studious pupil but well a personal prolongation of the work of the Master. At the top surely, the sequence of spinning mill to the museum haunted by the phantom of Kim Novak.
- turning take place mainly with New York. With regard to the scenes of the museum, outsides were turned to New York, but the interiors proceeded with the Philadelphia Museum off Art of Philadelphia.
- Brian De Palma wished that the role of Kate Miller be interpreted by Liv Ullmann, but the actress refused the proposal. The scenario writer had also proposed the role of Robert Elliott to Sean Connery, which to refuse because of preceding engagements.
