The Imperial Marine Andermienne is a fictitious military force of the series of novels Honor Harrington of David Weber.

Overall picture

The Imperial Navy Andermanienne (MIA) is the forces space of the Empire andermien, an expansionist average power in the Honorverse.

Like space naval force of the Empire, MIA is responsible to defend the systems of the empire against the enemy forces. But it is also responsible for " to show the drapeau" , as well as annexation of new systems in the empire and to maintain a presence in the zones of interest of the empire as it of the Silesian Confédération was the case before its annexation, where MIA kept a strong quota.

Technology and naval Doctrines

The ships of MIA show a prevalence of the missiles as a primary system of weapons instead of the weapons of energy (what gives them the advantage in the combat with long distance but not so much in the close combat), and are usually smaller and less solid masses that their equivalent of Manticore. It is the result of the very effective work of the intelligence services of the empire.

The troops aboard ships of MIA are provided by the imperial Armée andermienne, because there is no specific body of fusiliers. Some commanders, seen very well by the Emperor, can receive members of the forces of elite which are Totenkopf Hussars (personal guard of the Andermanien Emperor) like troops of edge.
