Immanence

The immanence indicates the fact of remaining inside. A principle Métaphysique immanent is thus a principle whose activity not only is not separable of it on what it acts, but constitutes it in an internal way. This concept is opposed to the Transcendance, which is the fact of leaving, to go outside. Any use of these concepts requires obviously the preliminary definition of the interior, outside and their border!

Religion

The thought of the immanence or the transcendence of God divided the medieval, neo-platonist philosophers according to Augustin d' Hippone, or aristotelicians according to Albert Large the and Thomas d' Aquin.

The Symbole of Chalcédoine affirms that Christ is consubstantial with the man according to humanity: this immanence engages the Holy Spirit and allows the Prière.

In Pascendi, the pope Pie X criticized the abuse this concept in philosophy of Spinoza and Kant.

Nietzsche

With his assertion, “God died”, Nietzsche declares that we are let with ourselves, that we should hope any more neither to discover a transcendent and hidden truth , nor invent the fine history by building a transcendent truth and final.

Wittgentstein

This same synthesis of indifference is done day at Wittgenstein (“what one cannot say, it should be concealed”): he believes to have defined formally a concept of universal truth -- formally, therefore independently of any subject, any observer. Is this truth immanente or transcendent? It does not matter: the distinction should not itself be formalisable besides, and thus it has nothing there to say of it.

Sartre

Sartre makes the same report when it uses in the Critique dialectical reason the word-compound immanence-transcendence . Is immanence what is interior with the being of a reality and returns, neither for its existence, neither for its explanation, nor for its value, with any external or higher principle, i.e. with any transcendent principle. This thesis can be summarized by the statement: all is interior with all .
