Imagine (song)

" Imagines " is a song " utopian " of John Lennon, which appears in its album of 1971 Imagine . Although in the beginning credited only with Lennon, the contribution of Yoko Ono to the song was largely recognized. Produced by Phil Spector the song reappeared like number one of the sales to the the United Kingdom in 1981, the year of died of John Lennon.

" Imagine" is regarded as one of best the songs Pop ever created, the magazine Rolling Stone devoting it third larger song of all times.

Composition and message

The words were inspired in Lennon by the hope of a world in Paix, of which he will say itself: “It is not a new message: " Give Peace has Chance" (A chance Gives to peace) - we are not unreasonable while saying just, " give him a chance". With " Imagine" we say " Can you imagine a world without country or religions? ". It is the same message, still and still. And it is positive.”

Yoko Ono said that the words d'" Imagine" were “right what John believed - that we were a whole a country, a world, people. He wanted to emphasize this idea”.

Lennon also commented on that the song was “anti religious, anti nationalist, anti Norme and anticapitalist, but which it was accepted because it was coated with sugar” Lennon also describes it like “virtually the Manifeste of the Communist party”

The refrain of the song can be partly inspired by the poetry of Yoko Ono, in reaction to its childhood with the Japan during the Second world war in its book of 1965 Grapefruit , where she writes “Imagines a drop of rain” and “Imagines the clouds”
