The commune is located in the plain of Alsace, with the confluence of the Ill and the Fecht to 15 km in the north of Colmar along the Wine trail of Alsace to 20 km in north east of Riquewihr and 20 km in the south east of the Château of Haut-Kœnigsbourg.Illhaeusern means in Alsacien: " houses along the Ill "
