Iles-de-la-Madeleine

This article treats principal municipality of the islands. For the archipelago as a geographical and human entity, to see Islands of the Madeleine. the Iles-de-la-Madeleine is a municipality of the Quebec (Canada) located in the administrative area of the Gaspésie-Island-of-the-Madeleine. She includes/understands most of the Archipel called the islands of the Madeleine. Its inhabitants is the Madelinots and the Madeliniennes .
The archipelago became a municipality following the Québécois municipal Réorganisations decided in 2001 by the provincial government of Lucien Bouchard. Then, the government directed by Jean Charest allowed referendums on the future of the amalgamated municipalities, from where separation, on January 1st 2006, of the municipality of Grosse-Île of that of the Iles-de-la-Madeleine.
