Ikkō Tanaka

Ikkō Tanaka (1930-2002) is contemporary artist Japan board.

Ikkō Tanaka (田中一光) was born with Nara in 1930.

Graduate of the school of the Art schools of Kyōto, it begins his career like Designer of company to Ōsaka, at Kanebo then with the Sankei Shimbun .

He settles with Tōkyō in 1957 and founds his company Ikkō Tanaka Design Studio in 1963. He works for the Steering Committee of the Olympic Games of Tōkyō in 1964 and for the World Fair of Ōsaka of 1970.

He approaches all the aspects of the design: posters, packing, logo, covers of books and extends its activity to the global design and the artistic director. He is represented in the permanent collections of many museums like the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, the Museum off Modern Art of New York and the Kyoto Institute off Technology .

Its style combines the traditional Japanese reasons and the Western geometric abstraction.

Ikkō Tanaka died the January 10th 2002.
