Ikegami

Ikegami 池上 (literally: the pond of the top ) is one of the districts of the district of Ōta 大田区 in the town of Tokyo.

It shelters the site of Honmonji, (of Hon “Book”, My “Door” and Ji “Temple”), the principal temple of the Buddhist sect of the more known lotus under the name of Nichiren. The whole of the life of this district turns around the temple and of its history.

Toponymy

Its name is composed of Ike 池 for “pond” and of Gami 上 for “top”.

Culinary speciality
