Ihar Makarau
Ihar Makarau (or Igor Makarov ), born the July 20th 1979, is a Belorusse Judo ka which is illustrated in the category of the light heavyweight (- 100 kg). Champion of Europe junior in 1998 with Bucharest, it is long in confirming in the seniors. He thus gains his first medal in a major competition while assembling on the third place of the Euro 2002 of Maribor. He repeats the following year with Düsseldorf before taking down the third place at the time of the championships of the world of Osaka. Qualified for the Olympic Games 2004 with Athens, he is an outsider for the podium. After having beaten frightening judokas like the Netherlander Elco van der Geest in semi-final, it is qualified for the finale of the Olympic tournament. At the time of this combat, it is imposed upon the South-Korean Jang Sung-Ho and thus gains the Olympic title.
