Ignacy Daszyński

Ignacy Ewaryst Daszyński (October 26th 1866 - October 31st 1936). Polish politician. In October 1892, it is one of the organizers of the Parti social democrat Polish Galicie, which will amalgamate with the Polish Socialist party. He was elected with the Austrian Reichsrat in 1897 and there remained until 1918. From 1903, it took to share with several congresses of the Parti International Socialist, frequently insisting on the independence and the reunification of all the territories of Poland like an integral part of the Polish socialist program. Then, as from 1912, its long collaboration with Józef Piłsudski began. This same year 1912 will see it named editor as a chief of the socialist newspaper Naprzód (" Ahead ") in Cracow.

During the First World War, it was one of the founders of the Polish National committee, and during a few days, chief of the provisional government of restored Poland, formed with Lublin, on November 7th, 1918. He will be elected on January 26th, 1919 with the Sejm (Diet), then will constantly be re-elected with elections the 1922,1928 and 1930. From July 1920 in January 1921, he will be Deputy Prime Minister in the government of National union chaired by Wincenty Witos.

After the coup d'etat of the May 1926, Daszynski will cut the bridges with Pilsudski definitively, and like chair of Sejm (1928-30), it refused to allow the Parliament to sit when Pilsudski, accompanied by a strong armed escort, enters the room. Daszynski put an end to its political career when Pilsudski in 1930 formed the Polish Popular front.
