Ignacio Retes

Ignacio Retes (born the November 13rd 1918 with Mexico City - deceased the April 23rd 2004 in Mexico City) was a writer, Acteur, Réalisateur and Mexican Scénariste for the Théâtre and the Cinéma.

Biography

Ignacio Retes and the theater

Jose Ignacio Retes Guevara nacquit in 1918 with Mexico City. In 1938, it became graduate faculty of Letters of the Autonomous National university of Mexico. In 1937, it had founded the university theater of San Luis Potosí where it was actor. It continued within Grupo Repertorio directed by Rodolfo Usigli. It began a career from actor and assistant of direction in Teatro de Medianoche created by same Usigli, then without giving up it, joined Teatro of mow Artes of the director Seki Sano. In 1946 it created its own theater company the linterna mágica . Ignacio Retes became director of theater in 1950 with El cuadrante of the soledad of Jose Revueltas. Its career with the theater was prolonged until the Années 1990 with many adaptations, among which Becket or Honor of God of Jean Anouilh, Othello of William Shakespeare and Cyrano of Bergerac of Edmond Rostand. In 1954 it also directed parts for Teatro Arena of Julián Soler. Of 1959 with 1965, it created with Julio Prieto the Organization of the Theaters of Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social where it taught the theater. He was also professor with the Mexican Institut of Cinematography and for the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, like Traducteur, ropelayer in scene and actor for the troop of Enrique Rambal.

The career with the cinema of Ignacio Retes began in the Années 1950. In 1948, it had carried out the film amateur Noches of angustia then it scénarisa a Documentaire on oil expropriation: El fuego cautivo (1955). In 1977, it gained a contest of scénarii initiated by the SOGEM (Sociedad General of Escritores of Mexico City) with Unos cuantos días .

Ignacio Retes is the father of the scenario writer Gabriel Retes.
