Ignacio Jordán Claudio of ESA LED Rio (June 4th 1742, Saragossa - May 21st 1814, Saragossa) is there a Naturaliste, a lawyer, a Spanish historian .

The centers of interests of Ignacio Jordán of ESA are very varied: Philology, Right, economy, Geology, Botanical and Zoology.

It receives an excellent formation as well in humanities as in the scientific disciplines. He studies the Greek and the Latin at the pious School of Saragossa and the Philosophie with the college Jesuit of Barcelona. He studies jurisprudence and obtains a title of doctor in right in 1764.

He then starts a brilliant career of lawyer and voyage in Europe of 1771 with 1775. He publishes in Madrid, only or in collaboration with the library of the royal Studies of San Isidro, Miguel de Manuel, several legal works: Instituciones del Derecho Civil of Castilla (1771), El Fuero Viejo de Castilla (1771), El ordenamiento of leyes that D. It begins in 1776 a diplomatic career and remains in particular with Amsterdam where it acquires a solid formation in economy.

It is at that time that it starts to make appear its scientific work: Synopsis estirpium indigenarum Aragoniae (1779), Mantissa stirpium indigenarum Aragoniae (1781), Enumeratio stirpium in Aragonia noviter detectarum (1784) and especially Introductio in Oryctographiam, and Zoologiam Aragoniae. Accedit Enumeratio stirpium in eadem Regione noviter detectarum (1784) which wants to be to be a complete inventory of geology, fauna and flora of the Aragon. It is one of first Spanish to follow the system taxinomic linnéen. In parallel, it translates many texts mainly of the Moslem time of the Aragon. It contributes to make known with the Spaniards of many foreign authors like Galien, Euclide, Newton, Descartes, Lamarck, etc
