Ignacio Comonfort

Ignacio Comonfort (March 12th 1812November 3rd 1863) was a soldier and a Mexican politician .

It was born in 1812 with Puebla French parents. In 1833 he is captain of the artillery company of the National guard. Then colonel in 1847 at the time of the Battle of Mexico City during the américano-Mexican War. The July 21st 1854 it is promoted Brigadier general, then Major general the August 27th 1855.

Comonfort is Minister for the war of the October 10th to the December 10th 1855, then the December 11th it is President of Mexico by interim, then President elected as of the July 13rd 1857 until its resignation and its escape the January 21st 1858. During the presidential mandate of Comonfort, Benito Juárez was at the same time president of Court Supreme and vice-president of Mexico.

From 1858 with 1861 it lives in exile with the the United States before returning to Mexico. In 1863 he is commander-in-chief of the army and fights against French at the time of the forwarding of Mexico.

The November 13rd 1863, Comonfort is killed at the time of an attack of guerilla close to San Juan to Vega on the road to Querétaro to San Luis Potosí.
