Igbo

The igbo is a spoken language with the Nigeria by approximately eighteen million Ibo, mainly in the south-east of the country, area independent of 1967 to 1970 under the name of Biafra. The Latin alphabet is used for its writing.

There exist many dialects of the igbo which are not always mutually understandable: Idemili, Owerri, Ngwa, Umuahia, Onitsha, Awka, Abriba, Arochukwu, Nsukka, Mbaise, Ohafia, Wawa and Okigwe.
