The producer of the album Rick Rubin suggested recording the song in an alleged haunted manor of Los Angeles, which gives sound effects and a particular background noise.
At the end of the song, after John Frusciante finished his solo of guitar, one can clearly intend the production line team to applaud the impeccable play of the guitarist throughout the piece. They never sought to withdraw this applause because they returned rather well and added to the richness of the piece.
