Ievoli Sun

The Ievoli Sun was a Chimiquier chartered by the Neapolitan ship-owner Luigi Ievoli, and which made shipwreck by 49° 52 NR and 002° 24 W with approximately 9 miles with of the Casquets the October 31st 2000, with a Cargaison of 6000 tons including approximately 4000 MT of Styrène, 1000 tons of Trichlorosilane and 1000 tons of Isopropanol.

The causes of the shipwreck are:

  • bad weather.
  • a water entry which drowned the store before as well as the room of the Propulseur of stem.

This increase in weight on before ship involving a negative plate which increased thereafter (other compartments fronts were drowned).

There no were human losses, the crew was evacuated by means SAR. Ecological damage would have been possible, especially because of the toxicity of styrene in sea water. But although the ship ran during its towing, the flow of the cargo of the chimiquier was negligible.
