Iemochi Tokugawa

Iemochi Tokugawa (徳川家茂, Tokugawa Iemochi, 1846 - 1866) is the 14th Shogun shogunat Tokugawa with the Japan. It directed the country of 1858 to 1866.

Biography

Iemochi was initially Daimyô of Wakayama under the name of Yoshitomi Tokugawa. However, it was named successor of Iesada Tokugawa, 13th shogun. With an aim of reconciliation political between the bakufu and the imperial court, he was married with the Princess Kazu-No-Miya Chikako, girl of the emperor Ninkō and sister of the emperor Kōmei during the restoration of Meiji.

He dies in 1866 at only 20 years. Tomomi Iwakura, man influential of the time, will then be suspecté of plot and poisoning. Its successor, Yoshinobu Tokugawa was the last shogun.
