Idrissa Ouedraogo

Idrissa Ouedraogo is a Réalisateur Burkinabe, born the January 21st 1954 with Banfora (the Upper Volta, current Burkina Faso).

Biography

Idrissa Ouedraogo is graduate African Institut of Cinematographic Studies of Ouagadougou. In 1981, he becomes civil servant at the Management of the Film production of Burkina Faso where he carries out there several documentary court-measurings of which “ Poko ” which will obtain the price of best short-measuring to the Panafrican Festival of the cinema and the television of Ouagadougou (FESPACO). After having remained with Kiev (Soviet Union), it enters to IDHEC in France. It is also titular of a D.E.A. Cinéma to the Université of Paris I Sorbonne.

In 1986, it carries out its first feature film “ Yam daabo ” (the choice). In 1988, leaves “Yaaba” which tells the life of a child of a village mossi to Burkina Faso and its friendship for a hurdy-gurdy marked woman of sorcery by the villagers. This film will obtain the Price of the Critic to the Cannes festival in 1989 and the price of the public to FESPACO the same year. In 1990, it carries out “Tilaï” which will obtain the Grand Prix of the Jury to the Cannes festival 1990 and the Étalon of Yennenga (Grand Prix of the FESPACO) in 1991. It continues with carried out feature films: “ Karim and Sala ” (1991), “ Samba Traoré ” (1992), “ the Heartfelt cry ” (1994), “ Kini and Adams ” (1997) and “ the Anger of the gods ” (2003) but also of court-measurings and the series of television like “ Three men, a village ” with Iso Traoré de Brahima for which it will obtain the Special price of the jury series or sitcom with FESPACO in 2005.

In 1991, it puts in scene “ the tragedy of the king Christophe ” of Aimé Césaire at the Comédie-Française. In 2002, Idrissa Ouedraogo took part in film of collective reflection “11 ' 09” 01 - September 11” on the terrorist attacks of New York in September 2001.
