Idir

Idir , of its true name Hamid Cheriet (in Kabyle Ḥamid Ceryat ), born in 1949 with Has Lahcène in Kabylie, is a singer Algérie N of Musique kabyle. Its name of artist means in kabyle: “He will live”, name traditionally given to a newborn with difficulty, to encourage it to live.

Biography

In 1999, Idir records Identités in which it joins together Manu Chao, daN Ar Braz, Maxime the Forester, Gnawa Diffusion or Zebda.
