Ides of the Latin idus , day which shares the month into two. To the beginning of the Roman Calendrier the named days ides corresponded to the full moon, but with time this correspondence ceased because of the reforms of the calendar. This day fell the 13 the month, except for March (Martius), May (Maius), July (Quintilis), and October (October) when it fell the 15.
