Identification number to the repertory

NIR , in France, is the Identification number to the Repertory , commonly called “social security number”.

It is used as single identifier for each registered individual with the national directory of identification of natural persons (RNIPP). The management of the NIR was entrusted to INSEE by the decree N° 46-1432 of June 14th, 1946.
