- 5 - September 6th: Théodose I {{er}} demolishes and kills the usurper Eugene and its general Arbogast with the battles of the river Frigidus.
- pagan Revolt of Arbogast against Théodose. The ceremonies with the ancient gods begin again with Rome, the temples recover their incomes and the statue of the Victoire takes again her place in the curie. Théodose crosses the the Alps and overcomes the Eugene usurper with the Bataille of the Cold River (Frigidus), in Venezia. Eugene is taken and put at death. Argobast commits suicide.
- Théodose Ier is now only emperor. It is an absolute monarch surrounded regularly paid civils servant. The orders are transmitted by the prefects of the Court to the counts directing the cities, via the vicars in the dioceses and of the judges in the Provinces.
