Iceskate
The iceskate is a Sport of leisure, consisting in slipping on extents of ice-cold water, often of a Patinoire, using Iceskates.
History
At the origin like the Ski S, the iceskates were a means of transport. They were then in skin of animal and the blade was in polished bone. Quickly, the iceskate becomes an entertainment, in particular in the United Kingdom and in the Scandinavian countries, frozen surfaces are numerous.
Iceskates are attested in Saint-Denis as of the Carolingian time. Discovered at the time of the archaeological excavations, they are made up:
- of a " lame" arranged in a radius of ox or horse
- of a leather shoe posed on the blade and sometimes attached by a thin strap
In 1650, the first club of Patinage on ice appears in Scotland, Edinburgh Skating Club. In France there remains held with an elite: Marie-Antoinette slips on the water levels of the Château of Versailles, then Napoleon III and the Eugenie empress.
The Dutch and English colonists export the shoe with the the United States where the first club is born in 1849 with Philadelphia.
In 1876, with London, appears the first artificial skating rink and since 1850, one manufactures in series of the blades of steel shoe. Ice-skating on ice experiences a significant development then.
In 1896 are held the first championships of the world of ice-skating to Saint-Pétersbourg.
The Speed skating and the Figure skating appear in the program of the first Winter Olympics to Chamonix in 1924.
