Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta is a politician Malian born the January 29th 1945 with Koutiala (Mali). it occupied the functions of Prime Minister and president of the National Assembly.

Biography

Born in 1945 in Koutiala, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta made her secondary studies with the College Janson de Sailly with Paris and with the College Askia Mohamed of Bamako. He studied with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dakar then to the Université of Paris I the Pantheon Sorbonne and at the institute of history of the contemporary international relations (IHRIC). He is titular of a control of history and a Diploma of In-depth study in policy and international relations.

After its studies, it is in charge of research to CNRS and teaches the political systems of the Third world at the University of Paris Tolbiac. Of return to Mali, he becomes principal technical adviser of the European Development Funds (EDF), in charge of the implementation of the first program of microréalisations by the European Economic community with Mali. He is then director-representative of Ground of the Men France (TDHF), ONG Frenchwoman and international for the Mali, the Burkina Faso and the Niger.

Militant of the Alliance for the democracy with the African Mali-Party for solidarity and justice (ADEMA-PASJ), he is the assistant editor of the countryside of Alpha Oumar Konaré for the presidential election in April and May 1992. After the legislative elections, he is elected president of the National Assembly. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta is President of the executive committee of the African parliamentary Union.

Candidate with the presidential election of 2007

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was invested by the Rassemblement for Mali on January 28th, 2007 during its 2nd ordinary congress with Bamako.

It centered its countryside on an opposition to the practices of governorship of the outgoing president Amadou Toumani Touré and to its policy. He challenges the consensus like form of government. During the countryside, he showed the partisans of Tinder Toumani Touré to use the means of the State and denounced the attempts at fraud.

He obtained 19,15% of the voices, thus placing himself in second position behind the outgoing president Amadou Toumani Touré, re-elected dice the first turn. He carried out his best score in the district of Bamako with 38,48% of the voices.

Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta disputed these results, showing the partisans of the outgoing president of fraud. It thus joined the other candidates of the opposition gathered within the face for the democracy and republic (FDR), Tiébilé Dramé, Mamadou Bakary Sangaré and Soumeylou Boubèye Maïga. The constitutional court rejected on May 12th the requests deposited by these candidates. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, in the name of the FDR which it chairs, while maintaining her charges of fraud, takes constitutional note of the decision of the Court and recognizes in Amadou Toumani Touré the president of Mali.
