Saint Medard de Noyon (in Latin Medardus ) was born in 456 with Salency in Picardy and it is deceased on June 8th, 545 with Noyon. The Saint M3edard's Day celebrates the June 8th.

Wire of Nectardus, noble a frankly, and of Protagia, noble a Gallo-Roman E. Twin brother of Gildard saint, Archbishop of Rouen.

History

Saint Medard expresses a great compassion for the most stripped as of its tightening Enfance more. In 530 at the time of the death of the bishop of Vermand, it was named in its place by the holy bishop Remi of Rheims. It transferred in 531 évêché from Vermand to Noyon (the surest place of the area) owing to the fact that the area underwent the attacks Barbare S of the Huns.

He died in Noyon, his relics were transported close to Soissons where was set up the Abbaye of Saint M3edard's Day. Relics of Medard saint were preserved in the church Saint M3edard's Day and are there still.

The legend

The legend says that when he was child, he was protected from the rain by a eagle which opened its wings with the top of him.

It is refers to Medard saint in the Golden Legend of Jacques de Voragine: “About year 490… flowered two uterine, holy brothers Medard and Gildart, which were born the same day, died the same day and was béatifiés the same day”.

The iconography

One represents it most of the time as a bishop, with the episcopal stick. Often also, it with the half-opened mouth and shows its teeth, because it was also called upon against the tooth ache. In addition to its representation with an eagle flying over it, it also appears with a heart, symbolizing its charity.
