Iaroslav d\' Opole

Iaroslav d' Opole (in Polish Jarosław Opolski ) (between 1143 and 1160 - March 22nd 1201), of the dynasty of the Piasts, is Duc of Opole (of 1173 with 1201) and bishop of Wrocław (of 1198 with 1201). He is the oldest son of Boleslas Ier Length and of Zwienisława, the girl of the large prince of Kiev Vsevolod II Olegovitch.

He passes his youth to the court of Frederic Barberousse, with Altenburg, where its family took refuge after being driven out of Poland. When his/her father and his uncle Mieszko IV Legs Frays recover the Silesia in 1163, it returns to Poland.

The relations with his/her father start to worsen after the remarriage of this one with the German countess Christine. Following the intrigues of his mother-in-law, her father supports the children of its second marriage. He decides that his oldest son must return in the orders, in this way the wire of Christine will inherit his duchy. Iaroslav does not accept this situation as it does not accept that his/her father attacks his uncle Mieszko IV Legs Frays. The occasion to reverse the course of the events came very quickly with the civil war from 1172 - 1173 opposing his/her father to his uncle whom it joined. Boleslas is overcome by Mieszko and takes refuge with Erfurt. Frederic Barberousse agrees to play a role of mediator. He negotiates the return of Boleslas Ier Length in Low-Silesia. In exchange, Boleslas must leave the area of Racibórz in Mieszko Jambes Frays and the area of Opole to his/her Iaroslav oldest son.

The September 13rd 1195, Iaroslav fights in the camp of Mieszko III the Old man against the partisans of Lech Ier the White (Bataille of Mozgawa).

In 1198, Iaroslav becomes bishop of Wrocław, undoubtedly pushed by his/her father with whom it would have been reconciled.

Iaroslav dies the March 22nd 1201, a few months before his/her father who succeeds to him Opole.
