Iarnród Éireann
Iarnród Éireann ( IE ), the railroads Irish, is the principal owner of railway services travellers in Ireland.
Established at midnight the 1987, it is a subsidiary company of the company Córas Iompair Éireann. It exploits all the railway services, interurban, urban and suburban in the Irish Republic as well as the international relation Enterprise between Dublin and Belfast jointly with the railroads of Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Railways. In addition to Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways, Bord Na Móna exploits an industrial railway network to broad way of 3 feet, the wide-area network of Ireland, which does not transport however of travellers.
At the time of its creation, in 1987, Iarnród Éireann were presented in the form of a Irish Rail , and choose the logo IR with four rails. But these initial was often deformed in WILL GO , initials of the Irish Republican Army. In 1994, the company took the version Irish E of its name and initial corresponding the IE, which remain the commercial mark still today. The Irish word iarnród means “  literally; way of fer ”.
The services of Iarnrod Eireann are exploited under two marks principales : InterCity for the relations broad outlines (including the Enterprise exploited jointly with the Northern Ireland Railways), and DART for the services of suburbs of large the Dublin and of Leinster. The Cork line - Dublin, which has good reputation, was the first line Great Southern and Western Railway , one of the most important owners of the time having preceded creation by Córas Iompair Éireann. The deadlines and rolling stock are of good behavior on this line.
