Ianuarius
Ianuarius (January) was the eleventh month of the Roman calendar. This month was dedicated to the god Ianus (Janus). At the time of the king Numa Pompilius it comprised 28 days, with the Calendrier Julien the number of day passes to 31. It becomes gradually, according to the countries, the 1st month of the year when in 532 the Church of Rome decided that the year begins on January 1st, to see Denys Small the.
Note: the letter J appeared with the Middle Ages, thus Ianuarius became Januarius with time.
