In spite of a one season passage to the Juventus of Turin and an end of a career with Leeds United, Sheffield United then Newcastle United, Ian Rush knew the success only with Liverpool FC.
Recruited in April 1980 with Chester by Bob Paisley which was shown more convincing than Manchester United, Rush, resulting from a working-class family, became the hero of the club of the industrial city. The abnegation shown by the attacker man with a moustache caused from the start the respect of the supporters of Anfield and its effectiveness in front of the goal made the remainder.
