Ian Murray Mackerras
Ian Murray Mackerras (September 19th 1898 - March 21st 1980) was a Australian entomologist .
He was born in New Zealand parents farmers and, after the divorce of his parents; he settled with his mother and his brother with Sydney.
December 17th 1915, it preceded the call and engaged in the " Imperial forces australiennes". It was named laboratory assistant on the " Karoola" then it was sent in France where it was gauze on May 28th 1918. At the end of the war, it turned over to Melbourne.
It started to study medicine in Sydney but very quickly it forked towards the Zoologie field in which it specialized.
He worked on the Mouche S of the S Nemestrinidae and Mydaidae.
In January 1927, it entered to the department of microbiology of the ministry for the health of the News-Wales-of-South.
December 1st, 1928, it went to work with Canberra in the new whole Comité for the scientific research and industrial which sought Entomologiste S. It worked on the flies Haematobia exigua and the Calliphoridae of the Mouton
During the Second world war, it was useful with the Moyen the East and in Guinea. He worked on the Paludisme.
June 2nd 1947, Mackerras became the first director of the Research institute medical of Brisbane, with the Queensland.
In 1954, it was elected member of the Australian Academy of Science.
He wrote a book: " The Insects off Australia" who contains some of his own drawings
