Iaito
A iaitō (居合刀) is a Arme of drive Japan ease, which imitates the Katana and allows the study of the Iaido and the Iaijutsu. They are called sometimes mogito (imitation of saber) when they are out of aluminum alloy.
The majority of the iaito are made of an alloy of Aluminum and of Zinc which one names Zycral, of density lower than steel of the katana, it tries to reproduce same balance. They are not sharpened and can be used for the study and the drive with a less danger. They are not adapted to the contact or the cut.
One also names iaito (saber of iai) in Japan, any saber (even out of steel and cutting) intended for the practice of the Iaido and often less expensive (basic polishing) that a saber of collection.
The correspondence between the length and the weight of the saber, and cuts it and forces it of the practitioner is very important, in particular to carry out actions of precision without being wounded (for example a noto ). To facilitate the handling of the weapon, the balance of the iaito is on the Tsuba (guard) instead of being on the Kissaki (point). The choice of a iaito should not be done nothing but after having taken council near a teacher qualified in the school of saber which one wishes to practice.
