I remember

I remember national Devise is the Quebec.

History

This currency (as the Armoiries of Quebec) was created by the architect Eugene-Etienne Taché who conceived the Hôtel of the Parliament. It appeared as of 1833 on the frontage of this building, where seat the National Assembly, then on the Armoiries of Quebec and on the plates number.

The currency appears right below the armorial bearings, with the entry of the Hotel of the Parliament. There are many carved historical characters all around the building, such as the French Samuel de Champlain and Jacques Cartier and the English James Bruce (Lord Elgin) (a governor) and the general James Wolfe, like certain members of the First Nations. Stained also left empty spaces so that the following generations can add their characters, like Maurice Duplessis and Rene Lévesque.

Significance

Its exact significance is difficult to establish. For this reason, it is often integrated in different word games.

Though Taché never explained the significance of I remember , this currency ends up taking an independence connotation; she is thus often interpreted like I remember my French history and heritage , or sometimes I remember what the English did to the French .

There is a persistent history which claims that the quotation supplements Stained is “I remember that born under the lily, I grow under the pink” (referring to the English and French emblems) or even " I remember to be born under the lily, to have grown under the pink and to be to me opened out under the sheet of érable" , but these formulations are not supported by the historical obviousness. Stained was, in fact, the source of the two halves of this quotation, but it was never noted that it amalgamated both.

This currency was occasionally recovered by political factions which exerted an influence in the businesses of the province; in 2006, in fact the “ municipal defusionnists ” posted labels on their cars with the slogan I will remember forced fusions! to protest against the obliged annexation of certain municipalities to a regional chief town.

Other uses

“I remember” is also the currency of the Royal 22e Régiment.
