I married a shade is a novel of William Irish of 1948.

With the cinema
The novel of William Irish was the subject of two film adaptations to the USA, one in 1950, No Man off her Own , carried out by Mitchell Leisen with Barbara Stanwyck), the other entitled Mrs. Winterbourne , realized in 1996 by Richard Benjamin with Shirley MacLaine, Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraser.
There exists also a version Bollywood, Kati Patang (1970), which was worth with the main actor Asha Parekh the Filmfare price.
The French adptation: I married a shade left in 1983. The film, carried out by Robin Davis, with Nathalie Baye, Francis Huster and Richard Bohringer, unfortunately raises the remote regions which made all the success of the novel.
