I am there, I remain there is the 23e episode of season 7 of the Simpson.

Synopsis

A bear unloads in Springfield. Finally this peaceful being is returned in the hills, but Homer encourages Springfield to make pressure on the Quimby mayor to create a patrol anti-bear. But it is too expensive (for the inhabitants) in taxes.

Quimby shows the clandestine immigrants then and launches a référundum on what it calls the proposal 24 (expulsion of the immigrants). Homer, initially for, notes that his/her friend Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the Indian owner of Kwik-E-Mart, is concerned. APU is made give of the false documents of identity by gangsters which recommend américaniser completely to him. But Apu remembers that his/her parents said to him not to forget who it is. It then passes an examination of obtaining the American citizenship to remain in Springfield. It succeeds, in spite of missed revisions. Homer encourages Springfield to vote not, but the law is adopted. The clandestine immigrants, like the Willie Scot, are expelled by boat.

Anecdotes

It is in this episode which one learns that Selma Bouvier was married a time with Lionel Hutz, the lawyer of carnival.
