I Santo California

I santo California is an Italian group of variety of the years 1970, originating in Campania in the south of the Italy.

History

The group was founded in 1975 when they recorded their greater success Torneró . It is with this song that they acquired a notoriety in their country and about managed to sell 11 million specimens of this title. This one was exported thereafter throughout the world (n°1 in Italy, n°2 in Germany). It was adapted in many languages: in French (Mireille Mathieu) under the title of “I learns”, in English (Amanda Lear, Tom Jones) under the title of “I' L miss you”, in Dutch (Arne Jansen), in German (Michael Holm) and trumpet player Nini Rosso celebrates it made an instrumental version of it.

In spite of the notoriety acquired throughout the world, the group will be snobé in Italy excluded thereafter and thus from the principal televised shows. In 1978, they took share as competitors with the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival with the song " Monica ", which succeeds in reaching the third place of the prize list.
