Characteristic and description

The song one of most aggressive and is boosted repertory of the Who. The musical structure in is also very complex. One notices several tracks of guitar, all distorted, low repetitive, and the bearings of battery of Keith Moon. The vocal lines are rather advanced and complicated, in particular at the time of the refrain. This title was so difficult with rejouer that Who integrated it into their scenic repertory only during a few months (fine 1967-beginning 1968). In particular, the group needed two guitars to take again the effect obtained on the disc, which was hardly possible on scene, Pete Townshend being the only one to play of the instrument with six cords. Moreover, the melodies of the choruses were extremely difficult to recreate.

The words are with the image of the music: excited and violent. One can say inter alia interpretations which it is about a man who has just realized of the inaccuracy of his partner, shouting his bitterness and his found clearness. Pete Townshend, the author of the song, described his recording and its topic in these terms: The true chief of work of the coalition Who/Lambert was, of course, I Edge See For Miles . The version here is not the mono one, but stereophony, which is damage because the mono one makes resemble stereophony The Carpenters. We cut the track to studios CBS of London and brought the tracks to the studios Gold Star of Hollywood for the mixing. Gold Star had the best sound of echo in the world. And there is a just little that on the mono one. More one key of artisanal compressor present at Gold Star. I weakened when I heard the sound. Words, that the senators indicated as being " directed drogue" concern a jealous man with an exceptionally good sight. Honnête.

The recording of I Edge See for Miles was revolutionist for the end of the the Sixties. It was not only recorded in various sessions, but those were separated by several thousands from kilometers. The basic track was recorded with London, the voices and the overdubbing in New York, the Talentmasters Studios , and finally the mastering in Los Angeles, the Gold Star Studios .

The author placed great hopes in this title, believer to have written a disc which can reach the first places of the British classifications. But the individual one reached to only it tenth place in England, being placed like their worst performance in terms of classifications in the charts with Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere . Townshend lost confidence in itself as for to write individual and tubes, and engaged in the project of a complete opera.
