ISO 3166-2: IT

The code ISO 3166-2 code 103 provinces of Italy. Each province has a code of two letters which is used for the registration of the cars. With code IT ISO 3166-1 for Italy, they form the ISO code 3166-2. The objective of this family of standards is to establish a world series of short abbreviations of place names, to be used on the products, the containers, etc Partout where a concise alphanumeric code allows identifer clearly a place, in a way more practical and less ambiguous than with the complete name. This code can be interpreted as the French zip code, or compared to the code of language used in the Wikipédia.

NB. : FC , which can be found on Internet site does not exist. FC was for Forlì-Césène , but as the province is called actually Forlì , its code is FO.
